I’m thinking of reshafting a fairway wood. Is the fluted hosell metal? I don’t want to heat it up and find out it’s plastic. Is there anything I should be careful of?
Thanks,
Tom Byers
Hello, Tom,
The adapter cannot be plastic. The ferrule above it probably is, so heating the hosel to remove the shaft usually causes the ferrule to melt so you’ll need to either be careful to save it or have a replacement ferrule. I haven’t reshafted an M2 yet, so check with GolfWorks to get the right replacement ferrule.
Also, as you may know, it’s wiser to use a heat gun rather than a mini torch to heat the hosel. Here’s a link to some reshafting help – http://www.golfworks.com/images/art/2008ReshaftGraphite.pdf. Hope this helps you. Michael
