What does tip trim to length only mean? I understand cut tip then butt trim to length. Example IR33 IRON TRIMMING CODE. It cant mean trim butt those inches and then cut tip to length, can it?

Tip trim to length means exactly what it says, you tip trim the shaft to the final playing length. Our code for tip trim to length is IR30, not IR33. Not many shafts are tip trim to length any more. It’s more difficult to do as you have to calculate bottom of the bore to ground line on whatever club you’re installing it in and account for that to come up with the proper playing length. Most shafts are either tip trim to a certain dimension for flex and then after installation, butt trim to length. Taper tip shafts are install (no tip trim) and then butt trim to length.

Thanks. I was reading chart wrong. I thought every code below the IR30 was a tip trim to length not the specific code for IR30 and it was blowing my mind.
