Looking through the specs of the Maltby TS4 and 2022 TaylorMade Stealth irons (or any other GI irons that have an MPF below 750), the TS4 scores 52 points higher on the MPF scale… I know there’s more to an iron than the final MPF score, but help me understand why I shouldn’t just get the sexiest club I can (TS4) if it’s not going to punish me over other offerings. The biggest difference I see with these is the MOI of the Stealth is 24% higher, but the C Dim is smaller as well as COG is higher and closer to the face.

What is a scenario that I would want a traditional GI iron (under 750 MPF) instead of a TS4 or TS1 IM?
(Coming from the Adams A2OS at 636 MPF).

I think one of the big things you have to take into account when looking at clubs like the TS4 (or even the TS3) and comparing them to irons like the Stealth (or any other GI iron) is their actual make-up. The TS4 is a single-piece forged iron, in the tradition of a blade-style iron. Yes, it will have a ton more forgiveness than a more traditional forged club, but it’s still a single-piece forged iron. Clubs like the Stealth is a multi-material large cavity back iron with all sorts of technology built into the club to help with distance, forgiveness, sound, feel, etc. With the TS4, you’re pretty much solely responsible for the speed required to get the ball the distance you need/want. With irons like the Stealth, technology helps with that more than a fully forged club. So you really need to look at your needs for an iron (as Duffer mentioned above) and how you use it, on top of the MPF. The MPF is a great reference, but it’s not the only thing to take into account when looking at irons.
