I apologize for not seeing this earlier. I would have responded right away. By your comments and suggestion, I am guessing you do not know the history. Probably better if you call me so I could explain in detail. The extremely short version of what happened is this: When Golf Galaxy bought The Golfworks, the plan was to sell our components and clubs in the stores. We executed on that plan in a big way, placing what amounts to a Golfworks store within the Golf Galaxy locations, with a Golfworks manager / club builder and fitter. Some stores were slower to get with the program than others, but overall the results were fantastic. I won’t give you the numbers of components and clubs that were sold, but it was significant. Pros and staff were putting Maltby designs in peoples hands and they loved them. Fitters were trained and certified by us and the quality of the experience, in most stores, was at the highest level. We had momentum and everything was looking good. Then, Dick’s bought Golf Galaxy. Since we were owned by GG, we were a part of the deal. Fast forward only a few months and The Golfworks concept and all were doing was shut down. Wasn’t part of the vision that Dick’s had for Golf Galaxy. Totally their right to do so and we really do not have any hard feelings about that choice. We do feel that an opportunity was missed, but at the time, and I believe do to a lack of understanding about what we were doing and The Golfworks in general, that was the choice. Since that happened, we have seen the rise of “custom fitting” companies etc. and I believe if we were able to continue, we would have dominated the category. Golf Galaxy was doing what these fitting companies are doing today, and the Maltby product was a part of it.
The good news is you can order anything we have and use it in the store, but you would have to get the buy in from your store manager, I’m guessing. We do occasionally get orders from the stores for our club heads or a complete club build.
