Why is Maltby KE4 Tour + Iron Heads vs TS-2 such a difference in the cost between the 2?
Why is Maltby KE4 Tour + Iron Heads vs TS-2 such a difference in the cost between the 2?
The forged process used in the TS2 is more costly. Also, the TS2 is a two piece forged head with material injected into the head. More processes, more tools to create each piece, more technology involved. Also, The KE4 Tour+ was developed several years before the TS2 and costs were lower lower.

Thanks for the explanation on the differance of the two heads. Is the 2 piece forged head a better head?
I would not say better, just different. Both are highly playable. The KE4 has a little higher playability factory. It’s in the Ultra Game Improvement category and the TS2 is in the Super Game Improvement category. So both are highly playable and forgiving. The TS2 has slightly stronger lofts and a different technology. The KE4 Tour+ has the weight adjustability. In short, they are both awesome products and either can work equally well for someone. Ultimately, the mass dimensional characteristics of a club head determine it’s overall playability, whether its, forged, or cast, one piece or two piece, etc. Both were designed to be highly stable and playable for all types of players. For any particular person, one might look better, feel better, provide the ball flight they want better…Only the individual and possibly a qualified club fitter could tell if one is better suited for someone than the other. That is the way it is in all cases. The beauty of being able to buy individual components is that you can try one club, or two and compare before investing in the entire set. From a pure performance standpoint, I don’t think you can go wrong with either one.

TS-2 is a forged head and manufacture process is more labor intensive. I believe the KE4 is investment cast, after it’s removed from the mold, it doesn’t require much more work (compared to a forged head) before it’s ready for assembly.
